and a half-eaten tub of Ben & Jerry’s
Salted Caramel ice cream, which
I’d placed in my jacket pocket,
leaves a trail of ice cream tears
on the floor of my new apartment.
It’s a hardwood floor reminiscent
of the one in the house in which I
lived from ages two to seventeen.
